Hello and thank you for visiting.

I have been a police officer for the City of Richfield for 28 years. I currently am assigned to the patrol division as a Sergeant / Watch Commander. I have been an investigator, crime prevention specialist, reserve and explorer coordinator. I have been involved in many major cases to include large scale burglaries, property crimes, and murders. I  was the arresting officer in the Donald Blom case. I am the type pf person who believes in active management by getting out with the employees and seeing how things work in the field not on paper. While in the Air National Guard, I was part of a quality management team that looked for new and more efficient ways of getting the mission done. In implementing these new ideas, the unit I managed received excellent ratings in all their evaluations. Some of the ideas were even implemented Air Force wide.

Hennepin County has great employees. Not all of them have been able to use their knowledge and skills to improve the effectiveness of the department. I have met with many employees who have stated their jobs could be better if they could just do this or that. Because of this the morale in the department has been diminished because they feel no one will listen to them when they have a great way of making things better.  

I have no hidden agendas.  I have no inspiration to use this as a stepping stone to something bigger. I have no other goal then to make this the best department to work for in the state. I also want to make this office more responsible and accountable to the people who elect me. I plan on working with all the cites in the county to see if I can help them meet their needs. I plan on being active on the streets to see what is really going on. I have lived here all my life and want to feel safe in my community.

I lead by example. All my employees must be respectful, honest, and have the interest of the citizens of Hennepin County in mind over their own.
